REMAINED, MELLINGER

35 in x 24 in x 40 in

Unfired porcelain and remains of the tree.

2015

During my residency at The Hambidge Center, I explored making metaphorical drawings by experimenting with constructing a site-specific ephemeral clay installation and creating drawings by collaging anatomical illustrations.  From the solitude and total immersion in nature at Hambidge, I meditated on the idea of selfhood in relation to nature, femininity and creativity. Tracing the conceived reflection, I delineated liminal bodies intimated with the materials of nature.
